Karen Schifano’s studio

I had a chance to see Karen’s new “door” paintings again. Just like last time, I walked in, and POW! They have a physical presence that makes you immediately aware of yourself as an embodied being in relation to their space. They dictate the terms of the studio. Every move on these paintings is carefully thought out, contemplated, meditated on, and yet, there is only the sense of inevitability.
